Wiiiine

Apparently our new landlord makes wine.  He gave us a bottle and we cracked it open last night to drink with our spaghetti.  It was really, really good!  It made me think of making my own wine.  It isn't very hard, people around here do it all the time.  There are all sorts of grapes and wild berries growing on the property we're moving to.  There are also fruit trees and room for a garden!  I am super excited to have a garden.  There is also a chicken coop if we want to have chickens, but I think it would make a mighty cute garden shed...  Hehe.  Anyway, we get the keys to our house later today so expect pictures very soon.

Sushi Night.

On Thursday evening Laura had planned a sushi night for a few girls.  That morning she and I went to a few different grocery stores to pick up everything we would need.  Then we went back to her house, drank tea and made cupcakes (okay, Laura made them, I wore an apron and stood in the kitchen).
Around 6ish people started showing up so we began chopping up veggies and meat and fish and cooking the rice.  I'd never made sushi before so a while I just sat and watched and ate, then after a while I decided to try making my own.  I was pretty damn good if I say so myself.  We all ate waaay too much and drank some sake and went home to bed quite early.  It was a wonderful night.
Sarah cutting on the mat, tsk tsk.

 Some sushi I made!

A day of baking.

Just in time for the holidays, my mum and I got together to do a bunch of baking.  We'll be eating lots of junk for the rest of the year so we prepared early.

Bonus picture of my little sister home sick from school.
My family's tree.  Boo to fake trees!
Their countdown, you can see with this how I've been slacking on posting on time...

Christmas party.

Wednesday was the Christmas dinner for my job.  It was really good.  The place we went had preselected our food. we got to choose between steak and chicken.  When we were all there and settled, they brought out huge trays of appetizers.  There were mozza sticks, jalapeno poppers, deep-fried pickles, chicken wings, and a few other things I can't remember.  Shortly after that we were brought soup.  We could have either french onion or chicken alfredo.  I chose the second, which was AMAZING.  I would go back just to eat that soup.  After soup we were all brought caeser salad.
While our main course was cooking, all the employees exchanged gifts.  We always do secret santa, even though by the time of the Christmas party we all know who got who.  I received a mug full of candy and latte mixes and scratch tickets from my secret santa and I got Britney Spears Curious perfume for the girl I got.  My boss also got me a Betsey Johnson wristlet, more scratch tickets, and a butterfly necklace.  Spoiled!

(I didn't win on any of the scratch tickets by the way, boo.)
Soon after we had finished opening presents our main course was served.  By now I didn't even want to eat more food, haha.  The steak or chicken was served with potatoes or rice and garlic toast and steamed veggies.  It was soooo good that I ate more than half of everything even though I was stuffed before it even showed up.  After dinner we were served pie that my boss made, so I ate most of that because she made it.
After dinner I went home and went straight to bed thinking I would never need to eat again.

Shugo Chara

Do any of you watch anime?  My friend from work has recently been trying to get me into it.  So far I must say I've been enjoying it.  We started out with weekly movie days where we would get Chinese takeout and watch one of Hayao Miyazaki's Studio Ghibli films.  After Spirited Away, Ponyo, Howl's Moving Castle, My Neighbor Totoro, and Kiki's Delivery Service we deciced to move on to something new.

This is when we started watching Shugo Chara.  It is also a series of manga which I have also started reading.  Anyway. it is about a young girl named Amu Hinamori who is seen as the cool, mysterious girl at school.  But Amu Hinamori is not really like that at all, and one night she wishes she was brave enough to show the world her true self.  The next morning she finds three colourful eggs in her bed.  These eggs soon hatch into Guardian Charas which are meant to help Amu be her true self.  Ran is the sporty one, Miki is an artist, and Su is good at sewing and anything in the kitchen.  Amu realizes she is not the only person at school with these Guardian Charas following her around; the Guardians (a group of students at school, kind of like a school council) also have them.  They recruit her for their group and fill her in about the eggs and characters that come from them.  Not all is well though, there are people who can make the eggs turn into X Eggs, which hatch X Characters and make the person which they came from fall into a deep depression and think they are worthless.  These bad guys work for Easter Company who's goal is to find a special X Egg so they are going around changing eggs.  What's worse is if the X Eggs isn't this special Embryo they are looking for they crush it leaving someone pretty much a zombie for the rest of their life.  The Guardians' job is to revert X Eggs and X Characters back to normal before it's too late.

Wow, that was quite the ramble.  But the show is really good so I hope you might want to get interested in it.
If you watch anime, can you recommend a good girly one for me to watch next?

I made these from Polymer clay to make the hair clips from the show.  I know, I'm a nerd.

It seems everytime that Laura goes shopping without me she brings me back something.  She is a very good friend, I like it.  So anyway, this is what she bought me yesterday:

My mum found this adorable vintage wrapping paper in her stash and gave it to me yesterday as well:

A yummy snack.

Another gift from my lovely friend Laura:
All the other Pocky I had was in english, but the boxes she brought back from Ontario were in Japanese and way cuter.
I don't know what is going on here, but still cuter than the boring old english ones.
